With our own in-house, state-of-the-art metallurgy lab, Atlas Pressed Metals offers Ph.D.-level services to increase quality control and reduce turn-around time. Our staff can conduct specimen preparation for sectioning, mounting and polishing samples. We conduct microstructural evaluations with our 50x to 1000x optical microscope or our own Scanning Electron Microscope. Results help our customers evaluate the integrity of welds, joints, coating and plating, and the incidence of inclusions and combined/total carbon. Our SEM is also used in conducting failure analysis, viewing fracture surfaces, corrosion, wear and contamination.

Our staff conducts full mechanical evaluations both during PPAP, for process control and as needed throughout the part manufacture life. Strength, density, hardness and porosity determinations are all conducted according to Metal Powder Industry Federation standards. Images and data on results are sent to our customers in a convenient, quick email.
