Sintered Stainless Steel Parts

Stainless Steel powder metallurgy offers advantageous mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance, strength, design flexibility and appearance. These powders can be processed using PM techniques to produce a variety of components with specific properties. Stainless steel powders are appropriate for producing components that need  both corrosion resistance and elevated mechanical properties.

Stainless Steel - 300 Series Alloy

Sintered stainless steel parts are generally selected because of their good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and appearance:

  • SS-303 Austenitic Machining Grades - SS-303 is preferred for parts requiring extensive secondary machining. Strength and hardness are high and corrosion resistance is good. SS-303 is non-magnetic.
  • SS-304 General Purpose Austenitic Grades - SS304 has good strength properties and corrosion resistance. A general-purpose grade used in many applications. SS-304 is non-magnetic.
  • SS-316 General Purpose Austenitic Grades - SS-316 has the best combination of properties in a PM stainless steel alloy. Corrosion resistance is better than SS-303. First choice for stainless steel general purpose applications. Non-magnetic.

Key Advantages of Stainless Steel:

Stainless steel materials produce components  that require  resistance to corrosion, rust, and oxidation. This property makes them ideal for applications in harsh environments, where components need to maintain their integrity over time.

Stainless steel  powders are able to be alloyed to reach high levels of strength, hardness and durability. The components can withstand extreme temperatures, mechanical stresses, wear  and exposure to chemicals, ensuring longevity and reliability in challenging conditions.

Stainless steel's non-porous surface and resistance to bacterial growth make it an excellent choice for industries that demand high levels of cleanliness and hygiene, such as food processing and medical equipment manufacturing.

Beyond its functional advantages, stainless steel's aesthetic appeal and versatility provide a wide variety of applications. It can be seamlessly integrated into various design concepts, from modern architecture to consumer goods, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal

Stainless steel is inherently recyclable, contributing to a more sustainable manufacturing cycle. Choosing stainless steel materials aligns with eco-conscious practices and reduces environmental impact.

When applicable, stainless steel alloys can include magnetic properties making them suitable for magnetic sensor components and electromagnetic devices.
