Providing a screw machined component from 4140 steel was seen as the only metal working technology that would meet the strength requirements for this industrial application. Combining Atlas know how for material properties and specialized processing parameters, Atlas developed a powder metal-based component that achieved the strength requirements while reducing the cost of the component by one-third.
