Accounting Bolstered at Atlas Pressed Metals

DuBOIS – Atlas Pressed Metals recently added two accountants to its staff to support the company’s growth.

Debbie Sycalik - Cost Accountant

Debbie Sycalik, originally from St. Marys, PA joined Atlas after moving back to DuBois from Houston, TX.  Debbie joined Atlas as a Cost Accountant in 2019 and is currently working with the finance team enhancing our costing methods. “I joined Atlas in February of 2019 after deciding I would like to stop traveling for work so much and yearning for something completely different to direct my attention toward. I definitely found that! This industry fascinates me and I am realizing every day just what an expansive field the PM industry is and the learning opportunities for myself and others are truly endless.”

Debbie is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Business Administration. Her prior experience includes banking, substitute teaching at the elementary level as well as working with students with disruptive behaviors and also those with special needs while living in Texas, and most currently as co-owner of an independent Service Organization which provides processing services to small business owners.  Debbie is a the mother of three children, her son Greg is a US Navy missile technician stationed on the SSBN Nebraska out of Bremerton, WA, daughter Maggie is in her sophomore year at Clarion University and Bethany, who is her angel that watches over her.  Debbie is currently engaged and is planning a future wedding to Jerry. She enjoys the outdoors, antiquing and spending time with family and friends.

When asked about her Atlas experience so far, Debbie says “I could not ask for a better “family” to work for; it is so nice to take so such pride in what I do and who I am blessed to work with.”

Susan Strohm - Cost Accountant

Susan Strohm of DuBois joins the Atlas Finance team as a Cost Accountant with over 13 years of accounting experience in multiple industries. Her previous employers range from ABB a large international corporation in power technologies to a non-profit organization, the Music Settlement, which is a 106 year old community music school located in Cleveland Ohio.

In her new role at Atlas, Susan will manage the cost accounting function for the organization. Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Accounting from Seton Hill University located in Greensburg, PA and Masters of Accountancy from St. Vincent University in Latrobe, PA.

“When I am not doing accounting work, I am cooking” explains Susan when asked about hobbies and interests. As an avid watcher of the Food Network show “Chopped,” Susan enjoys creating delicious food when challenged with only a few unique ingredients.
