CPMT Appoints New President

Thomas Pfingstler, Atlas Pressed Metals, DuBois, Pennsylvania, has been appointed President of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT), succeeding Arthur (Bud) Jones, Symmco, Inc.  A longtime member of APMI International and the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) Standards Committee, Tom received the MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award in 2019.

The Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (cpmtweb.org), a recognized not-for-profit organization, was created in the early 1980s as an indirect result of a United States Department of Commerce effort to establish a series of "cooperative technology programs" involving several specific technologies. Each was selected by the government as being representative of "growth" technologies capable of enhancing the productivity of America’s manufacturing community.

Tom Pfingstler is currently the Metallurgical Service Manager with Atlas Pressed Metals. During his 40 year tenure, Tom has held management positions in many departments including Production, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing. “Tom’s guidance and knowledge of every facet of the industry have helped not only the industry move ahead, but also he has helped many individuals who have had the pleasure of working with him. Tom is an irrefutable source of knowledge,” says co-worker Marty Timm, Plant Manager at Atlas Pressed Metals.

In his community, he served as a coach for DuBois area youth soccer teams and over 30 years as a youth basketball coach. He is a board member and past president of the DuBois area YMCA, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a past co-chairman of the St. Michael Polish Festival. Tom holds a BS degree in Management from Clarion University.
