A small cylindrical housing with internal vein features and challenging requirements for strength, cleanliness as well as a need for very high volume production proved difficult to produce using other metal manufacturing methods.  With these stringent requirements, traditional powder metal processing was not adequate. Atlas’ new product development team determined that with careful tool design combined with sinter hardened material  and a proprietary lubricant would provide manufacturing feasibility and increased cycle time.
